This morning as I was changing Graham's nasty diaper, I thought "Today is a good day to try potty training again. We will be home almost all day and no plans. Perfect for training" Plus I'd had my first cup of coffee and was in a good mood. That sets a good stage! Off goes the diaper and I pull out the Diego undies. Graham loves Diego. He blew through all 3 pair quickly. I had been giving him goldfish and juice so he'd need to pee more. He was not getting the timing right. I decide to set him on the toilet with another cup of juice, let him drink the whole thing, then we read and sang until he peed. Then he got it. He has successfully went 3 more times before nap, also had a very very small poop on one of them. He woke up from nap calling me and saying pee pee. I ran in there, ran him to the potty and he went promptly, did not even wet his diaper. WOW! I can not believe this is the first day. I know it will still be a rough road, but I am happy and have NO expectations. It was just a whim that I decided to try it anyway.

Another Farewell
Things kids say...
Did you ever watch Just Shoot Me? It was a pretty funny sitcom starring David Spade. Paul and I used to watch it. There was one episode where a guy, can't remember if he played the brother or what, was visiting and they found out most of his life he was pretending to be a person that was mentally challenged. And this is what he would say...
Paul and I have been mimmicking this for years, as I'm sure many others have as well. The best part about this...we now have Ethan saying it. It cracks us up everytime.

Old People?
I'll Never Figure it Out
Graham, my precious 2 year old:
If I ever figure out your eating likes and dislikes the world might stop spinning.
You eat mac & cheese, but do not like cheese
You will not eat anything green, but will slurp down green spinach smoothies
Yesterday I gave you 1/2 a cheese stick with your lunch and you ate the whole cheesestick
BAH!!!

Bounce House
Meema bought a bounce house. Need I say more. We went to visit for a week and had the best time. Favorite past times at Meema's:
Bounce house
Playing in the back yard
Running in the driveway
Going for walks on the greenbelt, riding in the wagon
Following D-dad wherever he goes
#1 most favorite of all...drumroll please...
Digging for worms in the compost pile!!!

Errands
Yesterday I needed to run several errands, after being away for a week. Paul is still not feeling well, so I asked him if he wanted me to take Ethan with me while Graham napped. He did. Ethan really does not like running errands, I told him we would get a special treat. He chose Bubble drinks! So funny how much he loves the "pearls" in the bottom. No one else in the family likes them. He loves telling me how many he sipped up the straw and got in his mouth. A good counting game I suppose.
We ran our errands; I was sure to tell him how many stores we were going to. He likes to count them down. I like taking just him on errands with me, sometimes. We get to spend time just the two of us and act silly. Good bonding.
I took pictures of us drinking strawberry smoothie bubble drink and my thai tea, in the car. NO, I was not driving!

4th of July
This morning the boys and I walked in the neighborhood parade. It was fun, but oh so hot. Poor Paul was laid up at home. The day overall was quite relaxing. After the parade we took it easy at home, then later that afternoon we went to Andie and Roo's for BBQ and swimming. I really like celebrating the 4th, it's all about fun/chilling/parades and fireworks!!!

Fireworks
Tonight Ethan and I went to Kaboom Town, in Addison, with our friends Niki, Bernie, Becca and Jaxon. This year was especially fun b/c Ethan "got" the fireworks. The beginning of the show started with a bi-plane doing loopty loops with firework spray coming out of his wings. That was so cool (so sad Paul was not well enough to see it). We sat in a field next to Niki's building, there was not a lot of people, so the kids could run around and have fun. It was a great evening, well spent with friends.

Eventful Week
As some of you know, Paul has been sick with his ulcerative colitis. Last week we prayed and prayed that he would get well enough to go on his guys trip to NYC. He felt a little better so we decided for him to go on the trip. Sunday, as he was traveling home, he started feeling pretty bad - but the pain was not in the usual place. We decided to wait until Monday morning to call the doctor. He told us it could be the appendix. So into the hospital we go. After waiting all day, we finally learned from the CT that indeed it was appendicitis. The dr. left the room, Paul and I looked at each other and just laughed. After all we have been through over the years with colitis and now it's his appendix! Around 10:45pm, Paul had surgery. It was a success. Paul is home, and gradually feeling a little better. WHEW!
We are so blessed to have such wonderful friends, who swooped in and took care of the boys - no questions asked. I even called yesterday to figure out what I was going to do with the boys, and they had already made a schedule1 THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
Paul's work sent him a cookie bouquet, they thoroughly enjoyed it after dinner!
