Quick Blurb

It is naptime! Ethan should be sleeping, but I tell him he does not have to sleep as long as he plays quietly. He came out of his room to go to the bathroom and told me to be quiet because Jesus is sleeping in his room. I followed him back to his room - to make sure he actually went back there - and he showed me where Jesus was sleeping on the floor. Make my heart melt!

I promise I will have Graham's one year birthday party posted after we get back from visiting Meema and D-dad.

Growing Boys

Ethan: Each summer we do semi-private swim lessons. They are fun. However, Ethan does not always like to get his eyes wet. Then I fret over the fact that he is still not swimming, silly Mom I know. Yesterday we went for a dip and he would not let me work on what he has learned with him. I was discouraged, all his little girl friends are just like little fish swimming around him. So I give myself the talk, he will get there. WELL this afternoon was our 2nd lesson this week, I went to pick him up...low and behold the boy actually swam today AND did not fuss over it. YIPPEE! He gets 2 marshmellows - that was our deal for no fussing!

Graham: Had is one year check-up today. I can not believe he has grown so fast. His stats -
31 3/4 inches (>95%, no brainer) and 19 lbs (10%). WOW! Ethan was not even that skinny. Other than he is strong as an ox, and squirmy as a monkey!

Going Bananas

Graham was in a total mood yesterday. Probably because he only had an hour and 1/2 nap all day long. So by dinner time he was a pill. As if he wasn't picky enough, he absolutely wanted nothing to do with anything I gave him. He began into a little show of throwing food, banging his tray, and then the grunt yell. I was trying to get him to eat the other stuff before I gave him his newly beloved food, bananas - which is fitting because I have been calling him "my monkey" since the womb - anyway...I knew he could see them on his plate, and he was not going to let up until I gave it to him. So I did! He grabs the banana, still doing the grunt yell and chomps down on it so hard; as if to say "THERE!" Paul and I looked at each other and just busted out laughing. I truly wish I could have caught that on camera. It was so funny!

Beach Bums

Over Memorial Day weekend, we visited my parents in Kingwood, Tx. One afternoon we drove to Galveston for beach time and yummy fresh seafood! The boys had a blast. Graham immediately wanted down to wander and explore. He truly looked like a sand crab scurry along the beach. He didn't even mind the handfuls of sand he crammed in his mouth. As for Ethan, he was playing Superman with the waves; jumping them, running to and from them. It is so fun to see the boys getting excited and being adventurous. We also went to the Strand, and the big boys went to the Railroad
Museum while Mom, Graham and I walked around. Ethan had BIG croc tears when they left the museum. The seafood? DELICIOUS!!! Next time you are in Galveston, you must eat at Fisherman's Wharf on the pier. Yummy!

Fire Station 56

A few weeks ago we went to Fire Station 56 with some friends. This particular Fire Station is just down the street from us, so that is cool. It was fun seeing the firemen put on their gear and tell us about what they do. This freaked Ethan out a little at first. All the kids took turns sitting in the cab, again, Ethan was a little hesitant but with some coercing he did just fine. It was a fun visit, and nice to meet our neighborhood firemen. Of course, we ended the fun time playing at the park and eating pizza. Every kid loves that!
