Recycle Man

Friday my Mom and I had a garage sale. (all the junk in the background) I had taken out the recycle bag and a jug fell out. I asked Ethan to put it in the recycle can for me, he is too cute. This is what he did...

Sicky Snuggles

First off, yes they are all in the same clothes from yesterday...

All my boys have been sick, we have been locked in watching movies and playing cars. At least they have gotten some good snuggles with Daddy.

Hold Your Breath

Ok, this is big! Graham ate a zuchinni slice. Yes, it was covered in ranch...who cares! He actually ate the whole piece. Paul and I looked at each other and held our breath. I tiptoed away to get the camera so I would not scare him off from eating it. I think part of his deal, besides generally not liking veggies, is he knows we want him to eat them. Yes, I have given that up. I never force him to eat them, they are just always present. Anyway, we were very excited for this break through. Sweet Ethan ate the whole plate of squash and zuchinni. Why have I not done this for snacktime before?

Shish Kabob

Tonight at dinner we had grilled shish kabobs. How clever of me!!! The boys thought it was so cool, they had no qualms with eating it - even the veggies. Ok, we know Graham didn't, but he loved the chicken. It's clear I need to be clever more often! I have to add Paul's pic, whenever I take pics of the boys at the dinner table Ethan always tells Daddy to make a funny face too.

Sweet sweet prayer

Ethan at bedtime:

Please God heal Graham's ear. Please God take me to heaven with you one day...and my mommy, daddy and Graham. Amen.

Hard to follow up with my prayer after that true heartfelt prayer.

We talked for a few minutes after the prayer and Ethan was talking about how no bad things happen in heaven only good things. WOW! I guess he really is learning something at VBS. He's not really one to talk about what he did, heard, etc. So I never know.

Emoticons

Alison, you had a brilliant idea. I am going to print out different emoticons, laminate the sheet, and work with Ethan on how to manage his different emotions. I am hoping this will help him identify his emotions. I'll keep you all updated how it is working!

Happy 2nd Birthday Graham

Yesterday was Graham's official (6/7), but today was his party at the Sprayground. Our new favorite activity. From the moment we loaded the car, all he talked about was his CAKE. He wanted it then. We were able to distract him playing in the water, and then momentarily with pizza, and finally the CAKE! It was a wonderful afternoon and thankful for the family and friends that celebrated with us.

Tenderheart

Ethan - tenderhearted, adventurous, sensitive, curious

What a gift God has given Paul and me in this child. Somedays are daunting to know I am his guardian, responsible for nurturing his heart and mind in God's way. Other days, are easy and joyous.

This morning I told the boys it was time to get dressed, as always, I tried to finish a few things before we actually dressed. I went to Ethan's room...he was completely dressed from head to toe. Instead of whining that he could not get his shirt off the hanger, he had figured out he could put his stool in the closet and get it down properly himself. He was very proud, I was too. He had put together a great play outfit, including tennis shoes and socks - not the usual cowboy boots.

Later we were in the car, I had talked to my Mom about my Dad being sick. I shared with Ethan and suggested we pray for D-dad. His prayer:
"Thank you God for making my stomach feel better. Please God take care of my D-dad."

I love seeing that sweet innocent spirit. May I never spoil that.

Quiet Time Genius...

Quiet time during the summers can be quite challenging. Oh Graham is great, he sleeps for 2-3 hours. It's Ethan, Mister Energy. However, I have a hard time getting him to play in the yard so I can have a little quiet time or get a few things accomplished. So today I had a new strategy, "work." I told him the cars and trucks needed washing, and I would get him a bucket with sponge, turn on the water hose and he could wash them. He thought this was a great idea, and he would do it for me! I got his equipment ready for him, he pulled out the cars and trucks, and away he went. He took his job seriously AND had a great time. Best of all, the house was quiet for a little while. Now to keep a list of jobs he can do for me...

Happy Birthday Paul

Yesterday was Paul's birthday!!!

We had a fun evening. We celebrated w/ Paul's parents, sister - Alison and her husband Richard, his brother and sister and spouses. Richard's birthday is also the same day AND year! Paul is 6 hours older. Funny. Anyway, we went to Saltgrass for dinner, yummy. Then Grandma and Grandpa took the boys back home, and the rest of us went to the Sypmphony in the Park in Farmer's Branch. What a great time, the weather was perfect, no mosquito's, with wonderful music. The finale was the theme from Indiana Jones with firework show. Which was fantastic. I don't think it could have been a better evening!

Happy 37th Paul and Richard!

Unfortunately, the only pictures I have are of the boys making cards for Daddy. Graham cut a big chunk of hair, other than that the cards were cute.
